Well, there's several places to try. First start searching through the forums at lucasforums.
Then try googling for jk3 hilt modelling or something along those lines. As it is there are no good tuitorials so your goignto have to experiment to see what works best.
Do you have any modelling program? And are you proficient in it?
Import an existing saber to get the general deminsions of a saber or whatever weapon you plan on making.
Make your mesh, Add a tag (a simple plane that tells the game which direction is xyz)
player models use bolt_whatever weapon models use tag_whatever.
so the quick way to make a saber.
make a cylinder at the top of the cylinder make a squre plane. name the square tag_blade1
export to md3
open the md3 in md3view (comes with the JKA model tools) click on view/view origins to make sure the tag is pointed in a sutiable direction. Click file/export to glm. The model is now a glm and suitable to put in game.
it needs to be in a models/weapons2/whatever directory check out the ext_data/sabers to see how you define a saber.
Guarenteed... its much better to go the 3d studio route...
Gmax.. theres exporters out there and things like that.. but your very limited in what you can do along the lines of export and import. 3d studio is basicly EXACTLY the same when it comes to modeling. so if you cant get 3d studio.. your not really gonna get Gmax.
yea.. alive.. finally back on the net.. been a while.. good to see people actually still go here!! LoL i was on JK3 and people are like.. I love your hilts man! heheheh big ol smile here!
